AS an ex member of the Royal Corps of Signals, I was surprised to read the description of the Corps in your article "City's Army Links Grow Stronger", (March 31).
In it were two statements which are incorrect. The motto of the Corps is "Certa Cito" and not Cetra Civo, which translated means swift and sure.
The figure in the centre of the Corps badge is Mercury, not Hermes and is commonly referred to in the Corps as Jimmy. The colours of the Signals are green, dark blue and light blue representing Land, Sea and Air.
You also published a photograph of two NCO's discussing their service. L/Cpl Bell is pictured pointing his weapon at his colleague. Whether the photo was posed for the "Press" or not, whether the weapon was loaded or not, whether the safety catch was on or not, this is highly irregular and dangerous.

THE photograph of the two young soldiers in connection with the military article (City's army links grow stronger, March 31) will no doubt raise the eyebrows of those concerned with firearm safety.
I am surprised this photo shoot got through.
Soldiers should not and, generally, do not, point their rifles in the direction of their comrades at any time.
