EVENING Press photographers Anthony Chappel-Ross and Mike Tipping have scooped two more media awards for the newspaper.
Anthony, 22, earned Young Photographer Of The Year at the Newspaper Society Awards while Mike, 39, walked away with a certificate of merit in the Photographer Of The Year category.
The pair received their gongs at a glittering awards ceremony held last night at the Hilton hotel, in Birmingham.
Each had to enter a portfolio of three photographs for the competition.
It was Anthony's first competition win. He said: "It's totally unexpected, but nice to win all the same. I'm shocked and a bit overwhelmed."
In March last year, Mike was highly commended by judges in the Photographer Of The Year category of the Newsquest Awards, the newspaper group which owns the Evening Press.
Their wins come only two weeks after the new Evening Press compact format scooped Launch Of The Year at this year's Newsquest Awards.
On that occasion, the judges commented: "The launch didn't just involve two or three key individuals or departments - everyone in the company and many in the wider community were made part of what clearly turned in to a huge celebration of the newspaper.
"The excitement, fun, buzz and sheer goodwill generated by this extraordinary team effort shines through in the photos, copy and promotional material and surely must reap long-term benefits for the paper."
