Acomb got the five points they required from their last match to win York Conservative clubs' Slater Cup Snooker Pairs League for the third successive season and the fourth time in six years.
Brian Hough and Larry Atmore gave Acomb an 86-15 winning start, but Heworth levelled with a black ball result. Acomb won the next two frames to go 3-1 ahead and take a 114 lead in aggregate scores.
Nick Lawn and Dave Rhodes put Heworth back in the match with an 81-28 win which reduced the aggregate deficit to 61, but Acomb reached their five points target by winning the last frame for a 5-2 victory.
Bootham beat Fulford 4-3 and finished runners-up to Acomb. Bootham won the first frame but then went 3-1 behind to Fulford, who had lost their last five matches. Bootham were only five points behind on aggregate as two of the frame wins were black ball results. Peter Mattinson and Norman Shipley won the fifth frame for Bootham and changed the aggregate deficit into an 11-point advantage.
Peter Henderson potted the crucial brown and pink of the last four balls as he and Ken Hovingham took the last frame for Bootham to win the match.
