CONGRATULATIONS to GNER on retaining the East Coast franchise.
I just wonder, however, whether it would have been able to afford the £1.3 billion bid without Selby's MP, John Grogan, (pictured) spending record amounts of tax payers' money travelling First Class to and from London.
No doubt GNER will be hoping that Mr Grogan retains his seat at the forthcoming General Election, as without Mr Grogan's regular journeys profits may well suffer.
