HUNTINGTON boxer Daniel Wright is the new Yorkshire and Humberside ABA novices middleweight champion.
Wright, 27, was a unanimous points winner over four rounds against J Musgrave, of Bradford ABC, on Monday and will now contest the North-East title tonight.
The former K&B Boxing Club fighter said: "It was a good fight and tougher than my recent opponent in America when I fought for the Great Britain Community Clubs team."
Wright, who works on the Farm and Gardens site at Full Sutton Prison, now boxes for Hunslet Boys and Girls Club and ex-Heworth rugby league player and coach Keith Loft recently answered an Evening Press appeal for financial assistance towards travelling costs and training expenses.
