KATE Marchbank and Eleanor Ramsden were in sparkling form as University Students won 5-4 at Clifton Ladies in division one of the York Badminton League.
They had three wins for 112-85, including a tough 15-12, 12-15, 15-12 victory over Lucy Smith and Gerry Screeton.
Railway Institute completed an 8-1 double over Clifton in both the ladies and men's division one.
Ros Ellis and Joyce Petch topped the Institute averages with a total of 103-45, while Tim Jarvis and Richard Pauw headed the Institute men's returns with 90-21.
University Students men's team whitewashed Selby Jubilee in division one with unbeaten Jeff Burch and Manik Chakravalt amassing a 90-12 return.
Selby/Drax 'B' had mixed fortunes in men's two, winning 8-1 at Knavesmire but losing 7-2 at home to leaders Shepherd.
Rex Pocklington and John Formby starred for Selby against Knavesmire with three wins for 90-55, while in the Shepherds match Selby pair Andy Dunning and Adam Prescott were rewarded for their efforts with a 15-10, 11-15, 15-12 win over Paul Nichol and James Pearson.
Pocklington men's team were good value for a 6-3 win over Tadcaster in division two. Chris Gunby and John Neary chalked up three wins for 91-79, including 15-13, 1-13, 15-13 against Bill Marley and Andrew Cooper.
University Students 'B' suffered 9-0 defeats by Clifton 'A' and Selby/Drax 'A' in mixed division one. Clifton's Karen Bruster and Richard McIntosh had three straight wins for 90-26, while Michelle Hall and Scott Anderson headed the Selby/Drax returns with 90-28.
Nestl Rowntree 'A' defeated Selby/Drax 'B' 8-1 in mixed two with Phil Grant and Helen Shepherd leading the charge with 90-22.
Shepherds maintained their progress in mixed two with a 7-2 home win over Pocklington 'A' with Sean Ogley and Lisa McClaren showing a good understanding in a return of 92-56.
Nestl 'B' surprisingly won 5-4 at University Staff Club 'A' in mixed three.
Eng Kiat Um and Sheila Mackerel won three times for Staff Club but June Edmondson and Phil Pearce sealed the confectionery side's win with an 11-15, 17-15, 15-7 success over Andy Brown and Rachel Adamson.
Selby Jubilee kept up their mixed four promotion tilt with a 7-2 win over University Staff Club 'B'. Simon Benson and Lynne Redman had a 90-50 total.
