It was a happy Easter for Selby Town as they reclaimed pole position in the race for the Northern Counties East League premier division title with two home wins, writes Claire Hughes.
The Robins followed up Saturday's defeat of Harrogate Railway with a 3-1 win over Eccleshill United yesterday to go top as title rivals Goole, Railway, Pickering and Sheffield all dropped points.
Eccleshill went in front on 43 minutes but Andrew Dawson burst down the right wing for Cameron Stuart to equalise a minute later.
Ex-City and Aston Villa scehemer Stuart put the Robins ahead with a powerful drive ten minutes into the second half and Tom Matthews sealed the win in the last minute to send them three points clear.
Goole threw away a third-minute Steve Davey lead at Thackley to lose 3-1 and the grip on their own destiny.
And Harrogate Railway had a lead pegged back for the second time this weekend although they managed to hang on for a 2-2 draw in front of 330 at Buxton.
Graham Marchant and Lee Ryan had created a 2-0 lead after 65 minutes, but goals on 77 and 85 minutes levelled.
The Pikes followed up their 2-2 Friday draw with a 2-0 home defeat to Long Eaton United to knock them four points off the pace, while Sheffield's 0-0 draw at home to Glasshoughton Welfare opened up the table still further.
