QUEUING cars packed the A64 as commuters rushed to take advantage of the Easter Bank Holiday.
This was the scene at the York Hopgrove Roundabout at its junction with the York Outer Ring Road as motorists waited to take their trips to the coast on Good Friday.
These pictures were taken from a light aircraft by Anna Gowthorpe as she circled the A64 near York on Friday afternoon.
It was the start of a busy weekend, when as many as 17 million vehicles nationally were set to take to the roads.
In our region, train services were affected on Saturday and Sunday as engineering work between York and Newcastle resulted in replacement bus services running between the two cities.
More of the same was expected on the A64 today if good weather results in another exodus to the coast.
