Forget Jack and Meg White. The most charismatic pairing in rock has to be The Kills' Alison and Jamie.
Their debut record On Your Mean Side dripped with raw attitude and sexual tensions, follow-up No Wow oozes it from every pore as the Anglo-American duo lament the lack of wow factor on today's music scene. With Less Is More as their mantra, their minimalist disco-influenced sound is reduced to almost a bare note - an electric, but simple, combination of throbbing drum machines and cool guitar accompanying their voices, as best shown on No Wow and Love Is A Deserter. Melody isn't sacrificed however as single The Good Ones and sweet lament Rodeo Town show. Don't believe the title - this album is all wow.
