YORK Acorn's do or die promotion bid faces probably its biggest hurdle as they visit possible National Conference division two champions Waterhead.
The Blue and Golds gave themselves a fighting chance of claiming a top-three finish with a stunning defeat of high-flying rivals Ince Rosebridge last week, but they may have to top that on Saturday if they are to overcome the in-form Oldham side and maintain those promotion hopes.
Boss Dave Kay said: "It's probably the toughest game all season not just because of who we're playing but also because we're carrying a few knocks."
Waterhead are in fourth place but, due to good cup runs, have no fewer than six games in hand on the leaders Eastmoor.
Two players definitely out are Fran Starkey, who is likely to be ruled out for the season with a groin problem, and Chris Hopcutt (hamstring). Michael Fitzsimmons, whose disciplinary hearing following his red card last week is scheduled for next week, may have work commitments so Andy Henson stands by to take over at hooker, while Kay may raid the 'A' team for cover in the backs.
