YABADABADOO! Gordon Brown is giving free travel to OAPs. One wonders whether he is aware that here in Rufforth we hardly ever see a bus?
No evening buses, which means no social life, no hospital visiting, no Sunday buses, no Bank Holiday buses, which means no Bank Holiday treats. No buses free or otherwise.
With the closure of the surgery in Beckfield Lane, more elderly people are going to be paying for taxis to get medical care because they are too nervous of the traffic island near Greenside Garage and cannot cope with the hill climb and strong winds which blow across Acomb Green. But who cares? Certainly not York public transport managers, who could so easily divert the route of the Arriva bus to Ridgeway and Front Street access, not only to the doctors but also to the library and the supermarket via a safe pelican crossing.
Mrs C P Hogarth,
Bradley Crescent,
Rufforth.
