THE letter "Alan's an artist not a vandal" raises a question on City of York Council's own values.
The council is quick to condemn others but should first put its own house in order.
Anyone walking over St. Helen's Bridge may wonder which artist was responsible for all the paint and drawing on the footpath.
It is council graffiti. Does the council employ such dumb workers and contractors they are incapable of following a plan or using a tape measure?
Do they have to paint all over the footpath?
If the council will insist on putting down costly red paint on the road, at least put the instructions to do it where the finished article will cover council graffiti.
The council should stop wasting our money on these schemes.
