LOW-PRICE tickets for Royal Ascot go on sale to York residents on Monday.
Bosses are opening the ticket office for the Rails Enclosure, when people living within two miles of York racecourse will be given the first option to snap up a place. With a capacity of 10,000, the Rails Enclosure will be next to the Yorkshire Course Enclosure, opposite the main stands, and tickets for the June 14 to 18 event will be £4.
Ascot chief executive Douglas Erskine-Crum said: "Not everybody is a keen racegoer and some people who live close to the track may just want to experience this one off occasion without paying a 'racing' rate.
