A NEW powerhouse of the city's elite business "movers and shakers" has been launched in York.
The Met Club is a business networking organisation with branches in Leeds, Harrogate and Huddersfield.
The idea has been launched in York backed by some 50 businessmen and women, including lawyers, accountants, designers, public relations consultants, information technologists, investment specialists and financial consultants.
They gathered at the Living Room for the Drinks Net event - an informal talking shop for the city's influential people. The evening was opened with a short talk from guest speaker Steve Walters, a commercial financial broker, who spoke about the benefits of the Met Club. Fiona Wilkie, of the Met Club, said: "We were over subscribed for the launch night which is really promising for the future of the Met Club in York. We're really pleased with the turn-out, it shows just how active the business community in York is."
