Malton and Norton RUFC took the opportunity to raise morale and confidence with a 39-12 victory against visitors Bridlington who are currently in mid-table in Yorkshire Division One.
Malt have been struggling in North East Two of late but were soon in their stride against Brid.
A break by fly-half David Webster split the Brid defence and centre James McKay was on hand to touch down.
On the half hour Malton turned defence into attack when Webster again broke and Mckay and Ian Cooke carried on the move for Cooke to score.
After a succession of penalties, Bridlington set up a rolling maul from a line out on the Malton line and went over for a converted try.
Malt hit back as emergency centre McKay ran 80 metres along the touchline before handing on to winger Liam Cowton to score. From that point on Malton took almost total control.
A good catch and drive from a line out was driven over the line and scrum half Jon Newsome got the touch down.
The visitors then set up another rolling maul to score but the comeback was short lived as Malton upped the tempoand Webster made another break before finding young prop Adam Turnbull who charged over in the corner for his first senior try.
Two minutes later Webster scored a great solo try from 30 metres out. Malton were now full of running and the final try came when the ball was again transferred quickly across field and debutant, Adam Stephens on as a replacement flanker, raced over.
