Haxby Memorial Hall is used daily by a playgroup which has been there for 35 years. This playgroup would have little chance of going anywhere else in Haxby which is the same size as the hall.
The playgroup has more than 100 members and most of those, including the staff, wish to stay in the same place.
What would it be like if the memorial hall was was not there? No playgroup for Haxby children, jobs lost, the loss of a community building and a focal point of Haxby's history.
The hall's committee has been saying they are going to do something for five years but have done little except to make those who use it anxious about what is going to happen. To those that say move it or sell it (Letters, March 17) I say what for? To make Haxby even more overcrowded with more houses and flats?
