WHY is York so stuck in the past? After reading your report 'The Artful Bodger' (March 17) I find this city and the council and police so reactionary.
Why has Alan Crosby been classed as a "yob" and "vandal"?
In many European cities he would be encouraged to produce his art, and I believe he is an artist.
When a youngster in this city does anything to express themselves in any artistic form they are demonised.
I would rather see Alan's work than the countless empty and derelict buildings in the city.
Instead of locking up harmless youngsters such as Alan Crosby, it is about time York gave something to its youth such as an arts centre and decent venue for budding artists and musicians.
The way Alan was portrayed would suggest he had beaten somebody up or caused arson.
Please, York, get with the 21st century.
