Malton and Norton strengthened their position at the head of the York Union of Golf Clubs' Cross Trophy competition, writes Tony Kelly.
After ten of the 12 events in the tournament Malton and Norton hold a 30-point advantage over their nearest challengers Fulford GC.
That lead was widened in Cross Trophy 10 held at Scarthingwell, where first place went to the Malton and Norton duo of Duncan Chapman and Ian Kneeshaw with a score of 61.
The leading place in Cross Trophy 9 at Aldwark Manor went to Kirkbymoorside GC's Mike Shields and Brian Feaster, who totalled 63.
Meanwhile, it was Crusher by name and overwhelming the opposition by nature as Bruce Crusher opened the new season at Kilnwick Percy with victory in the March medal.
He fired a nett 64 to cut his handicap to 19, a feat also matched by division two second-placed Peter Lemon, who totalled 65.
The division one winner was Neil Atkinson ahead of Peter Williamson, while the ladies' March Medal was won by Sue Hodgson.
Alun Williams won the club's winter stableford series, his four best cards totalling 166 points. Mark Harris and Graham Haigh tied for second on 158.
