Nicky Richards, frustratingly denied his first Cheltenham Festival success when Faasel was narrowly beaten in yesterday's Triumph Hurdle, can go one better on his local course tomorrow.
The Cumbrian trainer saddles Glenmoss Rosy in the opening Sark Novices' Handicap Hurdle at Carlisle and Brian Harding's mount looks to have a winning chance.
She looked to relish the step-up to this trip at Ayr last time when chasing home Minster Fair in a handicap. Ridden by an inexperienced rider there, Glenmoss Rosy may be open to further improvement and is taken to step up to the number one slot tomorrow.
Supreme Breeze, a winner here earlier in the month, returns to do duty again in the Viacom Outdoors Novices' Handicap Chase.
Sue Smith's charge had ten lengths to spare over his nearest rival, Only Once, on his latest start and although he has a tougher task tomorrow under his revised mark, he may be able to follow-up.
Sotovik was also a winner here last time, landing a shock 40-1 success on his debut.
Whether that victory was a fluke we shall know for sure tomorrow. In the meantime, he merits respect for what was a pretty decisive success.
Peter Beaumont's Impertio is not the easiest of horses to predict, but he has been running creditably of late and it would come as no real surprise to see him click in the Hart Fell Handicap Chase.
At Fontwell, Tony McCoy, who drew a blank at Cheltenham, will be keener than ever to get on the scoresheet.
The champion jockey has good prospects aboard recent winner Mister Mustard in the opening Racing South East Novices' Hurdle and also on Sir Frosty in the Leighton Aspell Fan Club Handicap Chase.
Mister Mustard, incidentally, is trained by Ian Williams, who went close to Festival glory yesterday with both Brewster and Bambi De L'Orme.
George Margarson may be best known as a Flat trainer, but the Newmarket handler has a decent jumper in Honey's Gift, who has good prospects in the Picnic & Hamper Co. Handicap Hurdle.
James Davies has the mount on the six-year-old, just as he did on this course earlier in the month when Honey's Gift scored by a length and a quarter from Statley Raj. There may be more to come, and a follow-up is on the cards.
Also worth noting is the consistent Red Ensign in the Bay Studio Handicap Hurdle.
A win is overdue for the eight-year-old, who will be partnered by Leighton Aspell, who has the unusual tribute of having a race named in his honour earlier in the day.
Tomorrow's Tips:
Carlisle
