NEW Labour has taken some stick, and rightly so, for its reforms which hit post offices so hard.
A recent closure programme has seen the loss of seven branches in York, depriving their communities of a vital social service.
So it is only fair to give credit to MP Hugh Bayley for campaigning to boost Postwatch's power to preserve post office services in urban areas.
We can only hope he is successful - and soon.
York cannot afford to lose any more branches.
