OLD Malton moved back to the top of Leeper Hare York and District League Reserve 'A' after a 1-0 win at neighbours Malton Bacon Factory.
The match was settled by Tom Moorcroft's ninth goal of the season though the Bacon side deserved at least a point.
York St John's demolished Kartiers 8-1, with Andrew Sherlock coming off the bench to hit four goals after Ben Winstanley had earlier claimed his first hat-trick of the season. Ben Moffitt completed the scoring for the students.
Easingwold won 6-0 at Barmby Moor in Reserve 'B' with Gary Raper scoring a hat-trick. Ian Hardisty, Richard Mills and an own goal sealed the romp.
Bishopthorpe now need to win their two remaining games to take the championship after winning 4-0 against Stamford Bridge.
Poppleton's slim hopes of winning the Reserve 'C' title virtually disappeared after they lost 4-1 at Wilberfoss.
Home 'keeper Dave Langton denied the usually free-scoring Poppleton forwards with a string of fine saves and was only beaten late on by Charlie Jackson, by which time Wilberfoss had a 4-0 lead through Mark Tomlinson, Mathew Ogle, Danny Johns and Andrew Sutcliffe.
Reserve 'D' pace-setters York RI lost 1-0 at home to bogey side Huby to be replaced by Norwich Union, who won 7-2 at Moor Lane.
