DAVID Blunkett's call for the English to celebrate St George's Day rings hollow (Evening Press, March 14).
More than two years ago I wrote to him suggesting making St George's Day, (April 23) a Bank Holiday to help make this a better nation.
Less than two weeks later I received an answer from the Home Office claiming they were all impracticable.
The speed of the response suggested they were never even properly considered.
Perhaps he has more time now to ponder such things?
