YOU are right on the button with your leader Comment on the story "Soft Touches" (March 14).
The ordinary person in York is sick and tired of convicted criminals receiving reduced sentences from judicial dinosaurs who are often out of touch with themselves never mind reality.
They are also tired of people getting a sentence (which is lenient in the first place), only to be told they will only serve a third or a half, and you have to take into account of this or that.
Was the trial worth it?
We want a sentence to be the sentence and if they misbehave add time on, not take it off before they go to prison.
