Heworth'S Kevin Gall and Jason Milner won the York Conservative clubs' Turnbulls Mazda Snooker Pairs Cup as they came from 2-1 down in a final lasting three-and-a-half hours at Heworth club.
They defeated Bootham's Tim Fillingham and Ray Stamp 3-2 for their first success in the competition.
Fillingham/Stamp gained the first frame 68-30. The Heworth duo levelled the match by winning the second frame 69-46.
Stamp scored 38 points as the Bootham pair won the third frame 63-39 to move 2-1 ahead.
In the fourth frame Gall scored 20 points as the Heworth duo went 41-12 in front, eventually winning the frame 48-18 to square the match.
An early break of 22 by Milner, plus 15 points from fouls, put the Heworth pair in control of the decisive fifth frame. Stamp potted six reds but only managed two colours.
Fillingham added yellow and green and Stamp the brown, but they conceded when Gall took the blue to make the scores 54-26 for overall victory.
Mike Braithwaite was referee and Chris Granger the scorer. The trophy and vouchers were presented by Peter Turnbull on behalf of sponsors Turnbulls Mazda.
Bootham I won the York Conservative Clubs' Ted Plant Snooker Pairs Cup for the fourth time in seven years when they defeated Fulford I 4-1 in the final at Bootham Conservative Club.
Wayne Glaister and Peter Jackson put the Bootham team in the driving seat with a resounding 87-12 win in the first frame.
N Brennan and P O'Boyle levelled the match for Fulford but only managed to reduce the aggregate deficit by seven points to 60.
Norman Shipley and Peter Mattinson restored Bootham's lead with a close 14-point win and then Don Nixon and Ken Carling sealed the match with a 55-37 success despite a 20 break by Fulford's Dean Stockton.
The trophy and mementoes were presented by Bernard Willey, president of Bootham Conservative Club, on behalf of the sponsor Robert Plant.
