YORK-based Anglers World Holidays continued their dominance in the final individual contest of the Acomb Tackle-backed York and District Winter League by taking the top three places on a cold-affected Ouse on Sunday.
Tim Harrison led from Stan Haigh and York and District Winter League individual champion Tony Stephenson.
Result: Tim Harrison (Anglers World Holidays) 11-14-0; Stan Haigh (Anglers World Holidays) 11-6-0; Tony Stephenson (Anglers World Holidays) 4-5-0; John Cyrowski (Barlby Village Stores) 3-6-0; Barry Richardson (Selby) 3-1-0; Colin Hibbard (Tang Hall Match Group) and Mick Potter (Anglers World Holidays) both 2-12-0.
Ian Bowman was on song at the weekend topping the Millbridge Fisheries-backed series on the Ouse. The Harrogate-based Maver Barnsley star took the top prize of £1,000 by a single point from another top Yorkshire rod John Illingworth of Middy Team Dons.
Result: Ian Bowman (Maver Barnsley) 54; John Illingworth (Middy Team Dons) 53; Ricky Bonas (Hirst Tackle) 46; Paul Bennett (Waterline Wibsey) 46; Bob Ramshaw (Glen) 45.
In an otherwise tight and competitive frame at Langwith Lakes, Leeds-based John Simms finished well clear of the field with a tidy 47lb 10oz of carp to three pounds.
Simms used corn fished across to the island as did runner-up Mark Teal, who, despite fishing on the adjacent peg 19, found the going slower and ended the day with 23lb 2oz in the net.
Result: 1 John Simms (Leeds) 47-10-0, 2 Mark Teal (Kerr Angling) 23-2-0, 3 Tom Wilson (Langwith) 21-14-0, 4 Martin Holmes (Morley Match Anglers) 21-4-0; 5 Steve Allerton (Langwith) 20-0-0; 6 Dave Cockerill (Leeds) 18-14-0.
Jeff Wilmore made a cracking start to the Raker Lakes series on Horseshoe Lake at the Wheldrake complex on Sunday with a 58lb 4oz winning performance at peg 22.
Working across to the far shelf with corn on the long pole, Wilmore plundered a shoal of 2lb to 4lb carp in the first two hours. After that the action slowed a bit but he had already laid the winning foundation.
At peg 21 Rick Johnson opted for maggot at 16 metres and eventually coaxed the fish away from the winner but his final 33lb 2oz left him some way off the pace.
Result: 1 Jeff Willmore (Armley Angling) 58-4-0; 2 Rick Johnson (Raker Lakes) 33-2-0; 3 Trevor Bailey (Armley Angling) 31-6-0; 4 Paul Kozyra (Angler's Corner) 15-7-0; 5 Danny Scott (Team Gem) 13-7-0; 6 Eddie Longbottom (Harehills WMC) 9-4-0.
