THE chief executive of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution complains of misinformation regarding the Connaught Court development and claims the RMBI will provide "accurate" information about the development (Letters, March 9).
It is too late for that. The RMBI has lost the trust and goodwill of the local community.
Their version of the truth is unlikely to be believed. It is only a few months since John Grogan MP described the RMBI as "difficult and aloof".
The existing care home at Connaught Court has enjoyed the goodwill and support of local residents for many years. But this has been diminished by the actions of the RMBI in relation to their ill-conceived and universally unpopular development.
I urge RMBI to admit that they have made a mistake. They should drop the current planning application and go back to the drawing board. This time they should take into account legitimate concerns of the local residents. The activities and approach of the RMBI regarding Connaught Court reflect badly on the masons as a whole.
