HERE is what happens when a York-based construction firm hits the heights.
Work is well under way at Shepherd Construction's Greenquarter residential project in Manchester's city centre on behalf of Crosby Homes.
With the main structure now in place, a lorry mounted pump, pictured, has arrived on site to pour the concrete floor slabs for the new ten-storey apartment blocks.
Shepherd started work on the contract in April last year to construct two ten-storey apartment blocks: Masson Place, which includes 163 one and two bedroom apartments, and Barton Place - a second residential block comprising 164 apartments.
Shepherd was also awarded a £1million contract to develop the Central Vista landscaped gardens for the Greenquarter scheme, which incorporates 200 trees and a jet fountain water feature.
On completion last year, the Central Vista earned a silver award for Best Communal Garden (in a non-retirement development) in the New Homes Garden Awards 2004.
