A WOMAN was airlifted to hospital after a head-on collision on a North Yorkshire road.
Firefighters had to cut the woman free after her car overturned on the A166 York to Stamford Bridge road at 5.15pm on Saturday, and she was taken to York Hospital by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
The crash, which happened close to the junction with Dunnington, saw the woman's vehicle severely damaged as a result of the crash.
A man and a woman, who were travelling in another car, were also taken to hospital by ambulance crews, the woman suffering from leg arm and head injuries. Their car was forced off the road and nearly into an embankment. The road was closed for several hours as police investigated the incident.
