Pocklington Rugby Union Club went down to a disappointing 17-0 Yorkshire Two defeat at Ripon, who made more of their chances and were the more committed.
Pocklington did more of the attacking but failed to turn their pressure into points.
There was little between the sides before Ripon crossed twice in as many minutes midway through the first half.
They benefited from eight penalty awards in succession to go over from a quickly taken tap, then ran the ball back 70 yards from the kick-off to cross in the left corner.
Pocklington ended the first period battering at the home line and it was the same at the start of the second half, but they came away with nothing.
Pocklington's forwards got over the line three times only to be held up or brought back for an earlier offence, while teenage stand-off Nick Bennett saw a penalty hit a post and come out.
In a rare visit to Pocklington's half Ripon slipped over on an unguarded blindside for their third score.
Pocklington tried to move the ball round in their backs, where they had three Allan brothers - Charlie, Harry and Sam - occasionally combining dangerously, but Ripon's defence came out on top.
Injury-hit York RI lost 39-15 at Moortown in Yorkshire Three.
They were 20-3 down at half-time to three tries, one converted, and a penalty. RI's only reply in the first half was a Matthew Yates penalty.
