KILNWICK Percy Golf Club's junior captain Lee Eastoe has become the Pocklington-based club's tenth junior member to pursue a career in golf over the last decade.
Eastoe is to take up assistant professional status having realised his flair for teaching golf with the Kilnwick Percy Academy in 2004.
His improving game also took him to South Leeds, Wheatley and Kirkbymoorside, where he remained unbeaten in all his games representing the East Riding Union of Golf Clubs last year.
At home, Eastoe won the Matchplay and Huxtable Challenge Cup, as well as shooting the best net at the KPGC Junior Open.
His handicap has now been reduced to 6.9 and his main objective in 2005 will be to lower that to 4.0, which will enable him to sign with the PGA and begin his formal training, including business studies, first aid and child protection, together with teaching qualifications.
Eastoe's immediate challenge, though, is the club's Captains' Drive-In on Sunday, March 20 when he will run the gauntlet against men's captain Steve Wilcox and ladies' captains Iona Buckle and Carol Kilford prior to the Texas Scramble.
The club's March Medal also takes place tomorrow.
