FUSION Of Nature brings together the semi-abstract northern landscapes of Peter Hicks and the nature-based sculpture of Margaret Lovell at Minster Fine Art Gallery, York, from next weekend (March 19).
Hicks lives and works in the Esk Valley, high on the North York Moors, and has pursued a professional painting career for more than 30 years.
His atmospheric, visionary work is deeply rooted in the moors, fells and dales of North Yorkshire, and his paintings range in price from £250 to £4,500.
Lovell will be exhibiting in a northern gallery for the first time in a career that has entered its fourth decade.
She works out of studios in the Mendips, south of Bath and Bristol, where she constructs organic bronze sculptures based in natural forms, and her pieces are on sale in editions of six to nine at £495 to £5,950.
David Durham, the gallery's director and curator, says: "Peter's expressive Yorkshire Dales landscapes and Rievaulx Abbey paintings and Margaret's polished, textured and patinated bronzes perfectly complement one another in what promises to be a fusion of exciting work."
Fusion Of Nature runs at Minster Fine Art Gallery, The Old Convent, The Queen's Path, Minster Yard, York, from March 19 to April 8. Opening hours are noon to 4pm, Wednesday to Sunday, and at other times by arrangement on 01904 658721.
