A lot of bad blood between Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith had to be purified to make Everybody Loves A Happy Ending.
The parting of their ways over 12 years ago was especially vitriolic. Hardcore fans have been speculating on the arrival of these new recordings for ages, as indeed Hell did freeze over. Echoing Sowing The Seeds Of Love, rather than the pioneering Change or Mad World, the psychedelic title track and the single Closest Thing To Heaven borrow heavily from The Beatles in I Am The Walrus mode and Who Killed Tangerine sounds like an outtake from Yellow Submarine. Tears For Fears were always completely potty, but it's great to have their intelligent, magnificently crafted pop back in the fold.
