CRAZY Detroit combo Electric Six are back with a record which shows they are much more than a novelty act.
The follow-up to the surprisingly successful debut Fire, Senor Smoke is another 15 tracks of chaos - but superior. A brilliant cover of Queen's Radio Ga Ga, which doubles as the record's first single, heads a line up of catchy choruses and raucous vocals. It may err on the side of comedy, but there's enough craft and intellect to suggest Electric Six are not the flash in the pan everyone assumed they would be. Synth-pop sounds combined with crashing guitars and this band's trademark witty, yet inane, lyrics leave listeners aurally stunned - but delighted at the same time. A sound second effort.
