THE New Orleans veterans make their first recording since 1999, with Aaron, Art, Charles and Cyril being joined by two of the next generation, Ivan and Ian. What a lot of Nevilles.
The walking stick on the cover suggests that the original boys are getting on a bit, yet this doesn't preclude lively bursts of funk on Poppa Funk and Can't Stop The Funk. These musicians can still get on down (although whether they can get back up again is less certain). Alongside lively funk there runs a parallel road, conveying the outrageous corn of Brothers, which somehow works despite the toe-curling sentiment, and a vocal-led Rivers Of Babylon. Not exactly earth shattering, but good enough.
