LEN Cruddas is right about people losing the will to live travelling on the rail link between Manchester Airport and York.

Considering that many of the passengers travelling to and from the terminal at the airport are loaded up to the gunnels with suitcases and the like, the quality of the service which is no more than a commuter train is terrible including overcrowding, having to use one's suitcase as a seat and waste bins overflowing.

This is often the first impression that foreign visitors are greeted with on their arrival in this green and pleasant land.

Never mind the odd commercial flight into Elvington, let's have a full-blown, all-singing, all-dancing Elvington International Airport.

It could have dedicated access straight off the A64 and would bring plenty of employment to the area, not only airport staff but companies relocating to areas with good air links.

With all the closures of industry during recent years York is in real danger of just becoming a dormitory for people working in Leeds. There is always the possibility that Mr "Two Jags" Presscott gets the area in his sights and has a vision of thousands of low-cost houses built on the site.
