PICKERING Town's away form continues to keep them in the Northern Counties East League premier division title hunt.
The Pikes enjoyed their ninth league victory in 14 away outings last night by beating Arnold Town 2-0 and can still overhaul leaders Goole if they win all their games in hand.
Matthew Morton opened the scoring in the first half and Liam Salt made the points safe on 80 minutes.
Pikes boss Alex Mathie said: "It was a tough place to go on a Tuesday night but the players put in a good performance and their attitude was spot-on.
"We've got a great away record but have sometimes struggled at home. I think that's because the good teams often come here and shut up shop so we have to cope with that."
Selby Town went out of the League Cup 4-1 on penalties at Gedling Town.
Jason Harris scored from the spot but Cameron Stuart and Chris Kamara both missed as Gedling booked a fourth round clash with Harrogate Railway.
Earlier, Stuart had given Selby the lead but Adam Sadler conceded a late penalty and the hosts took the game into extra-time.
Goals from Leigh Wood and Dominic Krief saw Harrogate Town lead 2-0 in their West Riding County Cup semi-final at Guiseley. But the hosts fought back to force a replay next Tuesday.
