SINCE Christmas more than 500 children from 14 primary schools from across York have been taking part in the Primary School Cross Country Programme organised by the City of York Council and supported by the Oaklands Sports Partnership.
Athletes have run at Joseph Rowntree School, Millthorpe and Oaklands Sports College with volunteer students from each school helping to marshal the courses.
Entries have ranged from infant Year 1 pupils through to junior Year 6s with Rufforth, Archbishop of York's Junior School, Copmanthorpe, Tregelles, Haxby Road, Tang Hall, Headlands, Robert Wilkinson, Poppleton Ousebank, St Barnabas, Dringhouses and Clifton Green all taking part in the series.
There is only one event left, which was rearranged due to adverse weather, and schools are more than welcome to enter as many pupils as they wish.
