MORE than 600 children from 11 schools across York have taken part in City Of York Council's Primary Sportshall Athletics competition.
Following a programme of coaching sessions, schools took part in competitions held at York College with the top two teams going through to the final.
Teams from Yearsley Grove, Haxby Road, Derwent, Headlands, Huntington, Hempland, Robert Wilkinson, Naburn, Elvington, Wigginton and Dringhouses battled it out in the qualifying rounds with Haxby Road Primary, Robert Wilkinson School and Wigginton Primary making it through to compete in the final.
The atmosphere for all the events was electric with some impressive individual displays as well as great team performances to be seen.
In the end, Robert Wilkinson ran out winners and will now go on to represent York at the North Yorkshire Youth Games.
