THE proposal to install a rising bollard at Straylands Grove is being greeted with disbelief by York residents.
Why is the council trying to force more cars on to fewer roads? It seems they are going for gridlock sooner rather than later.
Straylands Grove is a normal road used by residents, workers and non-associated traffic, the same as most of our roads.
It is not a rat-run, to use councillor's terminology. Importantly, it does not have cars parked on the road because all the residents have off-street parking.
Is the council legally entitled to stop up a road system that will cause additional queuing and concentrations of exhaust pollution, which is one of Mr Evely's concerns?
This issue is not about rat-running but is related to minimising possible restrictions to the Park and Ride bus corridor.
