ARE there no green open spaces in Selby safe from those corporate vandals who call themselves developers?
Not long ago, aided and abetted by the so-called trustees and the district council, they destroyed the war memorial land and replaced it with a dog toilet in Bondgate.
Now they are trying to get their rapacious clutches on the Selby Town football field and the bowling green. Both these areas are supposed to be for recreational use.
The plan for the bowling green is ridiculous; there are no reasons, apart from greed, for Morrison's to expand. We have three adequate supermarkets in the town and if the school needs redeveloping or, in modern jargon, modernising, there should be ample room on the existing site.
I hope the district council will be able to see more than pound signs.

Charles Street, Selby.
