VOLUNTEER'S Paul Cooper included a maximum for 16 darts in the York Cygnet Open Darts League division one match against Huntington WMC.
Cooper added an 18-darter and was well supported by Paul Botterill (16) and Mick Harris (180) as Volunteer edged closer to the title with a 6-3 victory.
Volunteer need four points from their last match to secure the championship.
Mitre remained second after a 6-3 win against Greyhound, where Rich Corner (16 and 180 for 21), Kev O'Hara (16 and 21) and Ali Wray (16 and 20) shone. Greyhound's Stu Limbert (180) was out in 17 and Bill Platt added a 121 finish for 21.
Huntington SC 'B' recorded a fine 7-2 win at Ebor, with Mark White starring with 19 and 20 darts. Pip Hair weighed in with 19 while Steve Jackson closed in 21 and Carl Jackson had a bull finish.
Crescent 'B' have been crowned division two champions after a 6-3 win at Cygnet. Crescent 'A' clinched the runners-up spot with a 7-3 success at Yearsley.
Graham Hudson gamed in 22 as Huntington SC 'A' had an 8-2 win against Woolpack.
Crown Inn secured the division three title with a 7-3 win at Indoor Bowls, while Edinburgh Arms finished as runners-up.
A 26-darter from Mick Plummer inspired Poppleton Road WMC to a 7-3 success against Clarence WMC, while Keith Graham-Stacey Eunson prevented Lord Nelson from the clean sweep.
Entries for the summer season must be to the league secretary by Monday.
John O'Mara led Sun 'A' to the York John Smith's Men's Darts League division one title with a fantastic 15 darts against Cygnet 'A'.
Sun won 5-4, with Tony Cooper (180 for 18) and Chris Thompson (18) then teaming up in the doubles to take the decider.
Runners-up Cygnet's best replies came from John Mooring (17), who partnered Dave Gibbons (180) for 26.
Daz Hoban-Steve Snowden edged Britannia to a 5-4 win at Shepherd 'A', who had a fine 20-darter from Mick Willsden.
Rich Plummer-Ron Simpson were the match winners for Crescent against Rose & Crown 7-2, Graham Wilkinson hitting a bull finish for 21.
Roy Sadler-Darrell Beavers were the match-winners for Dringhouses at Swan, who saved the aggregate by just 13 thanks to a good win from Matt Ford-Mark Delaney.
Division two champions Flag 'B' saw Chris Hardy-Gordon Foster take the points with a 6-3 win at Derwent Arms.
Gary Scott (170 and Stewart Scott (21) ensured Cueball stayed joint second with a 5-4 win at Slip Inn.
After a shaky start, Paul Calpin-Russ King kept Flag 'A' equal second with a 6-3 win over Holgate.
Dave MacDonald hit a fine 110 finish to help Green Tree to a 6-3 win at Institute. Steve Simpson (20) helped Bootham Tavern to a 6-3 win over Mitre, whose John Pickering-Neil Long saved the aggregate and the point needed to ensure second place in division three.
All teams should continue to send their results sheets in to John Smith.
