I WAS very sad to read of the death of John Angus the Minster verger.
When I was secretary of the Old Choristers' Association for eight years, John was always extremely helpful on our Reunion Day Evensong service, seeing to all those late-minute details for the service which helped to make it worthwhile.
He was always pleased to see the old choristers and made them feel welcome. I personally shall miss him at this year's service. I was also pleased to see the kind words from our Dean, the Very Rev Keith Jones.
John A Croft,
Vice President York Minster Old Choristers Association,
Brockfield Park Drive, York.
