YOUR article and editorial comment gives a misleading view of golfing "rules" (February 17). The club in question is not a club in the true sense but a commercial business selling golf rounds for profit by the day or year.
Such clubs (often known as proprietary clubs) function differently to clubs controlled and owned by their members (members clubs) who would, in my experience, have supported the likes of Mr Garnett during periods of long-term illness.
That is certainly the policy at my club, Oakdale Golf Club in Harrogate.
