YORK City right-back Graeme Law is back in business.
Law has started in all of Billy McEwan's first three games in charge after being left on the fringes for four months.
The former Scottish Under-19 international failed to start a game under McEwan's predecessor Viv Busby after recovering from a hamstring injury and had to bide his time on the subs' bench.
But he played a key role in Tuesday night's vital 1-0 win against Exeter City and feels he is on the way back.
Law said: "I've felt disappointed and frustrated because I had played nearly every game before I got injured. When I got back from injury the managerial staff said they wanted me to have a couple of reserve games first which was fair enough but, after that, I was never told why I wasn't playing.
"I've just been trying to keep myself fit and did a lot of work away from the club such as weights, running and cycling so I felt fit on Saturday. With not starting and only getting a couple of minutes here and there as a substitute, I was desperate to get back in."
Law added that he is already enjoying working with former Sheffield United, Rotherham and Darlington boss McEwan and revealed that the players are now doing more ball work.
He said: "We are being made to work hard and he's getting us organised. We are working a lot on our shape and set pieces and are each being told what our jobs are. We are also doing a lot more with the ball even in warm-ups. As the manager has said 'the more you play with the ball, the more comfortable you will feel with it'."
Each member of the playing staff has also been issued with a two-page document by McEwan about standards on and off the pitch and Law agreed with its sentiments, saying: "It was about rules and what he expects of us.
"On the very first day he told us that he wants 100 per cent commitment and I'm sure everyone will be willing to give him it because we are all disappointed with the position we are in and feel we can get out of it."
Law's aim for the rest of the season is to earn a new contract and keep his place in the first team.
About his rival for the full-back slot - Michael Staley - the Scottish teenager said: "He's done well for somebody who's only 17 and playing out of position because he's normally a centre back."
Law is also hoping to add to his Scotland U19 honours with more senior recognition although he faces stiff competition at international level.
He said: "I'm eligible for the U21s but you're not usually considered if you're not playing first-team football. I've been told though that the U21s manager watched me before I got injured so they still know who I am.
"Alan Hutton, who is currently in Rangers' first team, is the normal right back but I kept him out at U19 level so who knows?"
Billy McEwan is York Minstermen's guest at the Social Club tonight (7pm).
He will answer questions from 7pm with the bar opening half-an-hour earlier. All fans are welcome.
