A York jockey, a York trainer and a Yorkshire Lad are all worth serious consideration at Wolverhampton tomorrow as the all-weather Flat circuit helps to keep the racing going while the bad weather hits turf meetings.

The jockey concerned is Robert Winston, who lives at Huntingdon. He has several good rides on the card and is fancied to triumph on The Number and Freefall.

The former, trained in Scotland by Ian Semple, scored on this course last month when Winston drove him home to a two-lengths win in maiden company.

The Number wore blinkers for the first time that day. I hope that the headgear does the trick tomorrow in the Play Spot The Ball Handicap.

Winston rides Freefall for Newmarket trainer Chris Dwyer in the Keith Boardman 65th Birthday Maiden Stakes. This four-year-old would not need to improve much on his latest efforts to win tomorrow.

Trainer John Parkes, based at Warthill on the outskirts of York, saddles Nap selection King Nicholas in the Play Littlewoods Pools Handicap (division one), with Malton Dave Allan in the saddle.

King Nicholas failed by only a length to catch Acomb on this course a fortnight ago. Tomorrow's extra furlong should be to his benefit.

In the Littlewoods Pools Billions Won By Millions Handicap, make a note of Yorkshire Lad, a winner at Wolverhampton earlier this month. The three-year-old steps up in distance tomorrow, but should go well again.

Prospects of racing at Kempton depend on the weather. Cumbrian trainer Nicky Richards sends Monet's Garden for the £40,000 betfair.com Rendlesham Hurdle. A close-up fifth in the Cleeve Hurdle at Cheltenham last time, Monet's Garden should be better suited by the much flatter track at Kempton.
