IT was a century and out for York Rugby Union Club's under-nines team.
A run of 100 matches undefeated finally came to an end when they were beaten by an excellent Sandal side.
Despite the forwards dominating first half possession against a heavier Sandal team York were unable to clear the ball quickly enough for the backs to take advantage.
Sandal tackled aggressively and two tries gave them a clear advantage by half-time. The only score of the second half came from an intercepted pass at the half-way line by Dylan George.
York, fielding mostly its development team, then overwhelmed Selby by four tries to none.
Scrum-half Joe Brennan distributed the ball fluently and backs Ciaran Longmore, Jack Betteridge and Charlie Smith put in some strong tackles.
York U7s clash against Selby was close run. And despite his four-try haul Jack Starkey was not the York player of the week. That honour went Sam Caygill. Other try-scorers were Jordan Wilkinson, Alex Gould, Tom Belt and Kieran Bloor.
