IT seems residents in the Straylands Grove/Woodlands Grove area of York do not want a rising bollard which the city authorities are to install to combat a traffic rat run which the residents say does not exist.
Residents of Upper and Nether Poppleton have been trying for years, without success, to get the authorities to do something about a rat run through their two villages which both sides agree does exist. It makes one wonder what sort of criteria our traffic experts use to deal with York's traffic.
Personally I am against restrictions which give selective access as we all have to pay for the bits of road we then cannot use. Also it only moves any problem from the restricted area to somewhere else.
