Mr Croft of City of York Council states in relation to a proposal to bring an observation wheel to York that "no trees are to be removed" (Letters, February 17).
Has he read the document accompanying the application, Method of Construction, Operation and Dismantling - YORK 2005? Page 18, second paragraph from the bottom, states "two conifers are due to be removed".
I have measured the site and think it is impossible to construct the wheel without removing at least one tree. It is essential the site is pegged out before the planning committee visits it, to eliminate any confusion.
Mr Croft also states that the application is independent of the council. Surely they own the site so must have given their tacit agreement before things got this far?
I am, however, reassured that Mr Croft says the location, and impact on residents and the environment will be considered.
