I DO hope people will object most strongly to the proposed erection of a mechanical bollard in Straylands Grove.
Straylands Grove is not an overly busy road. It is public highway (not a rat run) and for at least 20 hours a day it is not overly busy.
As a road taxpayer and a payer of taxes to the city of York I fail to see the necessity of being banned from using the road.
It would appear once again councillors are not listening to what the people of Heworth or even York as a whole want. The councillors are only listening to the people who would most benefit from the proposed bollard, who reside in the immediate area.
This projected bollard should be rescinded and no more public money wasted.
Is Fifth Avenue not going to be a major traffic problem if - or should we say when - the proposed new development of Derwenthorpe is passed?
The only people who will benefit from the extension to Fifth Avenue are the 12 or so house owners who live within the unadopted end of the road, and they may be well compensated for the opening of their road and rightly so.
I for one would not want to reside so near all the electric pylons that are all around the proposed Derwenthorpe site.

Hull Road,
