FOR decades, various York city councils have tried to solve our ever increasing traffic problems.
They have introduced pedestrian zones, cycle paths, one-way systems, new traffic lights, speed humps and have put all their eggs in one basket, or cars on one route by introducing rising bollards. Despite all of these we still have traffic regular jams.
This week the council announced the appointment of "Mr Ascot" (February 15), who for five days will solve all of our problems and make the vastly-increased traffic run trouble free.
No doubt many temporary measures will be brought in to ensure that this will happen and then after the event things will go back to normal and the council tax payers of York will once again have to tackle the arduous journey to and from work.
